Sea to Sky Highway
Travel along the Sea-to-Sky corridor (Highway 99) from Vancouver to just north of Whistler. Discover scenic ocean vistas, soaring mountains, dramatic waterfalls, bustling communities, parks and outdoor activities.
Seven interpretive kiosks, designed in the shape of cedar-bark hats, are part of the Cultural Journey component of the route. Heading north, stop at kiosks 1 through 5, as they are on the east side of the highway. Southbound, stop at kiosks 6 and 7 on the west side of the highway.
Winter Tires Required on the Sea to Sky Highway from October 1 to March 31
The Sea to Sky Highway is a mountain highway, where conditions can be unpredictable due to rapid changes in elevation and weather. A trip that starts in sunshine may also encounter slush, ice, heavy snowfall or compact snow. For safety in winter conditions, passenger vehicles are required to have winter tires installed to drive the Sea to Sky Highway between October and March.
The following information from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of British Columbia outlines the requirements for winter tires in the province. Please read and ensure your vehicle complies*:

Alternate Routes
In accordance with the Provincial Tolling Policy, drivers of the new Port Mann Bridge must have access to at least one alternate route that is both convenient and free. If you do not want to use the tolled crossing, you have the option to travel via the new South Fraser Perimeter Road.
The new South Fraser Perimeter Road
The new South Fraser Perimeter Road – connecting Deltaport to Highway 1 at 176 Street – is now available for use. This road provides fast and convenient access to all five major crossings along the Fraser River from the George Massey Tunnel to the Golden Ears Bridge. Drivers using the South Fraser Perimeter Road and rejoining Highway 1 are able to do so in about the same amount of time it used to take to travel the old Port Mann Bridge.
